At the beginning of 2024, we collaborated with the AAHA to conduct a study on AI in veterinary medicine. With input from nearly 4,000 veterinary professionals, we’ve gained valuable perspectives on the hopes, dreams, and fears surrounding AI’s integration into pet care.
Some voices echoed concerns about the high cost of implementing AI solutions. Others expressed doubts about the reliability of AI diagnoses, questioning whether it could truly match the judgment of seasoned professionals. And then there were those who feared the rise of AI would lead to job insecurity, potentially eroding the trust between clients and their veterinary teams.

Dr. Cody Creelman is a veterinarian, multiple practice owner, and a digital storyteller, based in Alberta, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree with distinction in 2006 from the University of Alberta and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Starting out as an associate veterinarian at a beef cattle specialty veterinary practice, he quickly moved into the managing partner position, and then launched his own business – FenVet. Since her graduation in 2021, Dr. Cheryl Ilienko has been passionately involved in general practice, urgent care, and emergency settings as a Locum/Relief Veterinarian and an Associate Veterinarian at FenVet. Beyond her keen interest in surgery, Dr. Cheryl’s practice encompasses ER and critical care, small animal dentistry, and the nuanced field of small ruminant medicine. She is currently enhancing her expertise through recertification in RECOVER CPR and integrating Fear Free techniques into her practice.

Clint Latham
Clint Latham is the founder and CEO of Lucca Veterinary Data Security, a firm dedicated to helping veterinary practice owners realize the value of their data and take the steps necessary to protect it. He is a Purdue Law graduate and a former HIPAA and finance data compliance specialist.
